February 2, 2026: Veterans for America First (VFAF) proudly honors Tracy “2Step” LaPorte—Gold Star Mother and Founder of the Sgt 2Step Foundation—as its Hero of the Month for January 2026, announced today by Jared Craig, Esq., National Vice President of VFAF.
After the loss of her son, Sergeant Adam “2Step” H. LaPorte, a U.S. Army Infantryman who gave his life in service to our nation, LaPorte transformed grief into a lasting mission of service. She founded the Sgt 2Step Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to honoring fallen heroes and supporting survivors, veterans, first responders, and underserved youth through remembrance ceremonies, scholarships, community events, and healing-focused programs.
“Tracy LaPorte embodies what it means to serve beyond the battlefield,” said Craig. “Her leadership, resilience, and tireless advocacy have turned tragedy into hope for countless families. She is an inspiration to veterans and Gold Star families—and to every American who values sacrifice, community, and remembrance.”
The Sgt 2Step Foundation continues Sgt. Adam “2Step” LaPorte’s legacy through programs that unite remembrance and recovery, including youth music and writing camps, scholarships, and community resilience retreats—ensuring that no service or sacrifice is forgotten, because “The Beat of the Brave Lives On.”
The VFAF Hero of the Month program was conceived and initiated by Stan Fitzgerald in 2023
During his tenure as President of Veterans for America First (VFAF), Stan Fitzgerald initiated the organization’s Monthly Hero Program, an effort designed to honor veterans and American citizens who exemplified patriotism, loyalty, and bravery in service to the mission of “Saving America.” The program was created to formally recognize individuals whose actions and civic commitment reflected exceptional dedication to the nation, while also serving as an inspiration to others.
The Monthly Hero Program was named in recognition of the former President, who VFAF honored as Hero of the Month on multiple occasions, including April 2023. Through this initiative, VFAF sought to highlight personal sacrifice, civic courage, and steadfast support for American values.
The program formed part of VFAF’s broader mission to advance America First principles and to preserve and promote the political legacy associated with President Donald J. Trump, while elevating individuals whose actions aligned with those ideals.
