Bedminster, NJ — July 2021 — Veterans for America First (VFAF) political consultant and grassroots leader Stan Fitzgerald experienced a defining moment in his political journey when he and his wife, Donna Fitzgerald, were personally recognized by President Donald J. Trump during an intimate fundraising event for Congressman Jody Hice at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster.
The Fitzgeralds, longtime conservative activists and supporters of America First candidates, described the evening as “the most significant event in our lives to date.” Despite decades of memorable experiences with celebrities, athletes, and political leaders, Stan Fitzgerald said nothing compared to standing shoulder to shoulder with President Trump and hearing his name called out from the podium.
A Surreal Experience
The event, hosted by President Trump in support of Congressman Hice’s campaign for Georgia Secretary of State, was attended by only 30 guests. Congressman Hice, known for his strong ties to the conservative grassroots, ensured the Fitzgeralds were seated in a place of honor directly in front of the President’s podium.
When President Trump began his remarks, he paused to thank “Stanley and Donna Fitzgerald,” locking eyes with the couple throughout the evening. For Fitzgerald, who has been deeply involved in Georgia politics and served as co-chair for David Perdue’s gubernatorial campaign, the moment was unforgettable.
“When President Trump called out our names, time froze. It was surreal,” Fitzgerald recalled. “All of the campaigning, all of the work to support conservative candidates — it all felt worth it in that instant.”
From Grassroots Activism to National Recognition
Stan and Donna Fitzgerald’s path to this experience began through their involvement in Congressman Jody Hice’s campaign and their work supporting Vernon Jones for Governor of Georgia. When Pamela Reardon, another Georgia grassroots leader, encouraged them to deliver a message to Congressman Hice at a local fundraiser, the Fitzgeralds had no idea it would eventually lead them to Bedminster and into the President’s inner circle.
“Congressman Hice and his team treat us like family,” Fitzgerald said. “They made it possible for Donna and I to live a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we will carry with us forever.”
A Testament to Veterans for America First Leadership
As a political director with Veterans for America First, Fitzgerald has played a key role in building grassroots momentum, supporting America First candidates, and amplifying the voices of veterans and patriots across the country. His recognition by President Trump underscores the influence VFAF continues to build within the conservative movement.
For Fitzgerald, however, the night in Bedminster was less about political positioning and more about reaffirming his lifelong commitment to the America First mission.
“Meeting President Trump wasn’t just about us,” Fitzgerald said. “It was about everyone we’ve worked with in this movement — the veterans, the grassroots leaders, and the ordinary citizens who refuse to give up on America. That night reminded me why we fight.”
